For a simple way to get to know the town, a self guided walking tour of Wellsboro is a great way to spend a lazier afternoon. Brochures with highlight spots of the town can be found at the Visitor’s Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street or at a number of local businesses. This includes history and information about the town of Wellsboro that one would never know just looking up and down the gaslight lined streets. One of the hot spots and famous landmark is the historic Wellsboro Diner, famous for its breakfast and 1930’s diner décor. It may not have the cheapest or fanciest menu, but the Wellsboro Diner is a must see when visiting.

Other downtown wonders include the Tioga County Historical Association, located next the Court House on Main Street, the multiple gift shops, antique boutiques, penny candy store and the bookstore on Main Street, and the Green park in the center of town, and the historic, Victorians-style homes on West Avenue. The four-screen, old-style movie theater is an eye-catcher and a great way to spend an evening. Wellsboro’s numerous churches will wow you with their beautiful architecture. And who can forget about the simplistic charm of the original gas lamps lining the streets of the town.
